Belated, but sincere.

Justin, honey? Screw you and your knitting.

The pictures were taken by Scott Cook. Those folks are my friends, playing at DUI.

Watch this, it'll put it all back into perspective for you:

Sorry, this whole video still impresses me, so I'm not done sharing it with everyone yet.

And, in case anyone does watch it, none of those ropes are bungee ropes, it's all climbing rope, likely smaller in diameter than your thumb.

I don't remember Justin's knitting reference, so you can remind me, but I did watch that video.

I watched it and then I said to myself, I bet ten bucks that guy in the video is DEAD by now. Which of course he is. I read the article in some magazing about the fall that was his death in 1998. Now I have a creepy, weird, somber, freaked-out

There is something about a daredevil writing his own movie like that... I mean, it's no cooincidence that he died. He wrote the movie, starred in it, and it had a "tragic" ending. But we all knew how it was going to end. Roll credits.

I'm creeped out! I won't be able to sleep tonight.

And, if you paid close attention, the first jump you see in the video is the series of jumps that killed him, I believe. He died going for a record breaking jump off leaning tower.

I suppose it's not shocking he died. But, people die doing all kinds of things. I've actually seen people killed skiing, skiing into lift towers, and trees after losing control. I met a climber last Saturday, she had just recovered from a broken neck she got taking a fall where her gear popped allowing her to hit the ground. One of the guys I climb with took a 70' ground fall soloing something, and somehow walked away.

It's not uncommon to hear of famous climbers dying just accidentally rappelling off the end of the rope.

Dangerous hobbies, in dangerous environments, even if you're careful, things can go wrong.

Wow... all I've got is respect. At first the bungee jumping struck me as kind of cheesy, but the free-soloing on big walls put it all in perspective. That man could do things I can't imagine being able to do. He knew it (epic falls on ropes rated for much less, ripping out hundreds of feet of pro, dynoing to fragile holds, etc.) would catch up, and he was was at peace with that.

Nice D in pic 3.

I'm off to my league's draft, where I will face the same old ethical question - do I draft more women than we need just so I get more playing time?

That's never what I worry about on draft night. For me it is always - does anyone know which of the new guys are single, and will anyone notice if all the women on my team (besides me) are married or lesbian?

Your league 3/4 or 5/2?

It's usually 5/2, sometimes the O can call 4/3. The league constantly teeters on the edge of viability.

I didn't say that I'd never hit on anyone at league, just never drafted for it. I'm too competitive for that.
