WHAT?!!

Is Randy breaking up with me? Geeks, is he deleting me? From his heart?? I was just sitting here, not hurting anyone. I can't believe I got gratuitously dumped. By a twenty-two- year-old stranger! I may never love again.

You were asking for it, spying on him like that.

At least he didn't do a 'userdel -r', so your home directory is still around, and if you were logged-in then the command failed!

Still, that's pretty harsh.

Ok, getting our nerd on a little bit, it's possible that root's PATH variable is not set to look for the userdel script in the /bin directory that would actually delete Megan's account. Maybe he has *another* userdel script lying around somewhere (perhaps in his current directory) that will actually do something else like undo all the horrible things he has done to Megan and bring her back to him.

(Ok, I know this because I've had weird situations where I somehow was accessing a different script than the one I thought I was. It took me the better part of an hour to figure out what was going on.)

FWIW, I know a guy who doesn't delete his ex's accounts. He lets them linger, so that he can prolong the feeling of rejection as long as possible.

I interpreted that comment as you having dumped him (probably with that he's too young post) and his heart was broken so he deleted your account

I'm with bryn. The little stickboy stared at his screen ALL NIGHT before accepting the inevitable.

So careless with tender, young stickhearts...

So here's a topic to add to your list:

How young is too young?
My friends and I followed the 1/2 plus 7 rule, until somebody broke it and married her, and I thought it was a good rule until I met a girl who was very mature for being under 1/2 plus 7 , and incredibly funny, so I try to avoid her so that I'm less crushy.

1/2 plus 7, good or bad?

Bryn and Jason,
I would worry about that if I thought he had seen my other posts at all. I'm thinking he gets way too much traffic and mentions to find this, Randall Munroe, xkcd. He never even asked me if I would wait for him to grow up a little.

ok, so then it's some other megan that dumped him, so now's your chance!

although I don't know about him not finding your blog. I read his comic before I found this blog and strangely a number of other people seem to as well so I think there's a more tight knit circle of people with common interests than you might think.

If you think that, can we go post a comment on his page with a link to your post?< devilish grin >

Ha ha!

I was somebody's 22-year-old Bad Decision just last year, and that kind of fickleness is exactly what one should fear, and to a certain degree expect, from us.

Just take it as evidence that your 'too young' instincts were well placed.
